F1, Toto Wolff doesn’t mince words on Lewis Hamilton
Toto Wolff categorical about Lewis Hamilton
Toto Wolff, speaking to F1’s official podcast ‘Beyond the Grid,’ indulged in new thoughts in retrospect on the recently concluded season, producing praise for Lewis Hamilton despite the fact that 2022 has been stingy for the British champion.
“We gave him a vehicle that was not capable of winning,” Wolff candidly admitted. “Often the car was unpredictable, unstable, good but not in such a way that you could create foundations to develop ideas: for that, on a personality level, Lewis was really admirable.
“When performances were not good and morale was low, he took care of motivating everyone,” the Austrian executive added. “That’s a character trait I’ve never seen in a professional sportsman. You ask me if he will want to continue? I really think so: he is like Michael Schumacher in recent years, like Tom Brady in American football. He is a symbol, more than an athlete, he can still drag an entire team.”
