Genoa, axis heats up with Milan for a prospect shot
Genoa continues to probe the market to give Gilardino reinforcements
Genoa is fresh off an encouraging string of consecutive results: in fact, the Grifone, since the arrival of new coach Alberto Gilardino, has scored three victories in the last four days of the cadet championship, including the two prestigious wins against leading Frosinone and Bari in the boxing day big-match on Dec. 26.
Despite the ten points picked up between the 16th and 19th days, the management of the Rossoblù club is continuing to sound out the market with a view to reinforcements to give to the former Primavera coach, following the officialdom of Domenico Criscito’s return and that of the purchase of Uruguayan born Matturro in 2004.
The latest track for the Genoese team’s roster is the one that would lead to the young promise of Norwegian soccer, Andreas Schjelderup: the class of 2004, owned by Nordsjaelland, however, is also among the targets of some Premier League clubs and not only, in fact Benfica seems really willing to make an offer for the offensive midfielder.
Among the suitors, however, there is also AC Milan, and the Rossoneri’s interest could benefit Genoa, which hopes to be able to insert itself for a loan, in the case of an eventual purchase by the Milanese club. Schjelderup’s contract expires in the summer of 2024 and he is currently valued at around 10 million euros.
