Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull insists: what would be his role
The call becomes insistent, and the job offered is becoming increasingly clear.
Sebastian Vettel is increasingly in the crosshairs of Red Bull, and in particular of the same Helmut Marko who saw him grow up and bet on him as first driver in the era when the German secured four Formula 1 champion titles between 2010 and 2013. Retirement has since come, but this may also represent a homecoming.
The topic is already known, but Marko went over it in an interview granted to ‘Sky Deutschland’. “Vettel, now that he has left Formula 1, intends to spend more time with his family. That’s why I think a role in Red Bull similar to the one Niki Lauda held for Mercedes is perfect for the program he has set for himself.”
The first suggestion of an executive role for Vettel at Red Bull had come in late November through the mouth of Helmut Marko himself. “I, after all, am almost 80 years old. And so one day he could be the one to take my place,” he stated. The former Ferrari driver then replied, “In Red Bull we have spent many beautiful and unforgettable moments. And even if everything flows, reliving the good times would certainly make me happy.”
