Pelé, a minute’s silence around the world
Pelé, Fifa’s note
A minute’s silence for Pelé before every match on all soccer fields around the world this weekend and for the next week.
Fifa has decided this, communicating it to all federations. “On December 29, 2022, the world of soccer lost its King. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, affectionately known to the soccer community and to all as Pelé, was a soccer icon like no other.”
“Pelé brought the magic of South American soccer to the world and gave meaning to the phrase ‘The Beautiful Game.’ He remains the only person in history to have won three World Cups. His incomparable imagination and skill on the field dazzled anyone lucky enough to witness it, all with a smile on his face and warmth in his heart. As long as soccer is played, Pelé will be remembered and missed.”
