Three Italians in the day’s top-10 on the Swiss slope in Wengen, where the second chromed training run was held ahead of the downhill on Saturday, Jan. 14, which will be preceded by the super-giant on Friday, Jan. 13, and followed by the slalom on Sunday, Jan. 15. This time the organizers allowed the training to be held on the entire course, unlike the previous day when the start was lowered to remove snow that had fallen overnight.
The best time was achieved by the host Niels Hintermann, who stopped the stopwatch on the time of 2’30″81, with which he preceded the Norwegian Adrian Smiseth by 11, third tally for Mattia Casse, who proved to be at ease on the Lauberhorn, with a delay of 15. Also appearing at ease were Christof Innerhofer and Dominik Paris, who finished seventh and eighth respectively at 69 hundredths and 96 hundredths; further behind were Matteo Marsaglia, Florian Schieder, Matteo Franzoso, Guglielmo Bosca, Nicolò Molteni and Giovanni Franzoni. The third and final official training session is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12.
