FIA believes in Ferrari: Mohammed Ben Sulayem speaks out
An important investiture, from one of the most influential voices possible.
Frederic Vasseur’s Ferrari is expected to make its breakthrough in 2023, when according to many insiders it will reap decidedly important results. And among those who think this way stands out the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who in an interview with ‘Motorsport-total’ did not hide.
“I think Ferrari’s hiring of Vasseur was the right maneuver. They made a very clear choice, based on the performance seen on the track,” explained Ben Sulayem. Who did not merely promote the change of team principal at the Cavallino after Mattia Binotto’s management.
Indeed, the federation’s number one said he was certain that Ferrari’s abstinence from world titles was soon to end. “Winning championships is certainly nothing new for them. And before it happens again it is only a matter of time,” Ben Sulayem concluded.
Ferrari has not won a constructors’ title since as far back as 2008, while the last time one of its drivers won the world championship was the year before. In 2007, in fact, the championship went to Kimi Raikkonen.
