Ligurian tennis player speaks after elimination from Australian Open: “I need to be a little more patient and understand that physical progress is slow in coming.”

Fabio Fognini spoke after losing to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of the Australian Open: “I was definitely hoping for a better performance. But playing not being at my best against an opponent who is very strong, and even more so here in Australia, is difficult. It showed that I was not well but I wanted to go on the court anyway. Now I will try to manage the doubles, then when I return to Italy we will see how I am and where I stand,” are the words reported by Ubitennis.

On his future: “This can be one of the last Australian Open, no use getting around it. In the preseason I worked well to try to raise the physical level, however being 35-36 years old, my body no longer assimilates as it did when I was 20. I have to be a little more patient and understand that physical progress is slow in coming. I have always had problems with my feet; now I would like to solve this problem I have as soon as possible.”
