Mikaela Shiffrin bows to Federica Brignone
Mikaela Shiffrin’s words.
Mikaela Shiffrin, with her fall three gates from the end of the second run, contributed to Federica Brignone’s combined triumph but very sportingly pointed out how hard it would be to close the 96-cent gap she had accumulated against the Milanese.
“I definitely felt a bit of pressure today, after the super-G I wasn’t sure I would recover: she is fabulous, she doesn’t do a lot of slalom, but when she does, especially in the combined, she is always great,” she told Eurosport. “I tried to push hard, taking risks, because I wanted to confirm the gold medal. I am sorry, but at the same time satisfied with how I skied: we have to move on. I will do the super-G, not the downhill: I don’t think I will participate in the time trial scheduled for tomorrow.”
