Pozzecco among options to replace De Raffaele

On Sunday, Reyer Venezia announced the dismissal of Walter De Raffaele, on the Orogranata bench since 2016 as coach and as assistant coach from 2011 to 2016. With the lagoon team he won two scudetti (2016-17 and 2018-19), a Europe Cup in 2018 and an Italian Cup in 2020.

In the last hours, several names have been made that could take the place of the coach from Livorno: in pole there is certainly that of the former coach of Baskonia, the Croatian Neven Spahjia, also chasing, however, the historical coach of Montepaschi of Siena and former technical commissioner of the Azzurri, Simone Pianigiani.

The latest profile, which has piqued the enthusiasm of Orogranata fans, is that of current Italian national team coach Gianmarco Pozzecco. The ‘Poz”s last adventure on a club bench as head coach dates back to 2021, when the former point guard led Dinamo Sassari. As is well known, FIP president Gianni Petrucci has never been in favor of dual positions, but the Pozzecco option should definitely be kept an eye on.
