GeVi Napoli has secured Thomas Wimbush
Important stroke for GeVi Napoli and for the coach of the Campania team Cesare Pancotto: in fact, the club through its official channels has announced the purchase of former Zenit St. Petersburg American forward Thomas Wimbush. “Gevi Napoli Basket announces that it has signed American player Thomas E’sean Wimbush for the 2022-2023 season,” reads the note from the biancazzurra club.
“Wimbush, born in Lorain, Ohio, on Dec. 8, 1993, is a 201-centimeter wing. After his college experience with the Fairmont State Falcons, Wimbush played in the G-League for two seasons with the Long Island Nets, averaging 9.9 points and 4 rebounds in 2018-2019. The following season, the new Gevi player experiences his first European experience in the German league with MHP Riesen of Ludwigsburg, averaging 10.2 points and 3.1 rebounds. In 2020-2021 Wimbush moves to Turkey with Socar Petkim Sport, having a 10.5-point, 5.1-rebound championship. The American forward played in France, with Nanterre, in 2021-2022, capping an excellent 13.5 average season, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists for a 15.1 rating per contest, also shooting 51.7 from the field. Wimbush played the first part of the 2022-2023 season in the Russian league with Zenit St. Petersburg, 7.2 and 3.5 rebounds in the VTB League. The Gevi forward was also elected MVP of the VTB Supercup, which Zenit won in the final with Cska Moscow. In the decisive challenge Wimbush scored 20 points in 19 minutes,” the GeVi Napoli release continues.
