MotoGp, Ezpeleta admits post-Valentino Rossi woes: ‘Dead end’
Dorna patron on MotoGp: “It takes time, we come from a golden era.”
Dorna patron Carmelo Ezpeleta in an interview with As spoke about the sharp decline in viewers and popularity of MotoGp recorded in the last season: “It will take time and tranquility, it’s an adjustment phase. We come from a time when the dominant rider was Valentino Rossi, who was an extraordinary centaur with a great personality.”
“When I started it was said that after the Americans there would be nothing left, but then came Mick Doohan, then came Rossi, who raced against people like Pedrosa, Stoner and Lorenzo. Then Marc Marquez, a hero, who got injured and now we’re at a standstill.”
“We have a lot of kids, good riders, who will come up. We have to popularize this generation, Fabio Quartararo is already a media man in France, I expect a return of Marc Marquez. The busy calendar? We had no other choice.”
