Elisa Longo Borghini wins the UAE Women’s Tour

The first edition of the UAE Women’s Tour, raced from February 9 to 12, ended in the best way for Italian cycling: in fact, Elisa Longo Borghini won the stage race, 7″ ahead of her teammate at Trek-Segafredo Gaia Realini and 1’18” ahead of another tricolor athlete, Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ).

A success that, according to what Longo Borghini herself said on the sidelines of the last stage (won by Charlotte Kool of Team DSM), lays the foundations on what the 31-year-old herself would like to be a season characterized by important results: “I’m really happy for this success at the UAE Women’s Tour,” she told the official channels of the Emirati race. “I’m proud of my team, we showed great unity of purpose and this gives us confidence for the continuation of the season.

“This is a victory of the whole team,” reiterated the Verbania native. “Now we deserve to celebrate with the staff, who helped me achieve this result.
