Sofia Goggia unlucky: slips and ends up out
Very unlucky Sofia Goggia: in the timed run of the downhill in Crans Montana, the Bergamo champion had taken a good lead, posting the best split at the first intermediate, but then ran into a slip that sent her off the course and into the nets at reduced speed. Goggia then got back up and crossed the finish line on her skis.

It was Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec who set the best time with 1’26”75 and clearly pulled away from all her rivals starting with Lara Gut-Behrami, who remained 91 hundredths behind the Slovenian, and a surprising Isabella Wright, third at 1”22, despite starting with bib number 24. Good fourth place for Laura Pirovano, the first to start, who accused a gap of 1”26 from the leader. In fifth place slipped Romane Miradoli, at 1”30.
Elena Curtoni is 11th with a 1”80 gap from the first, while the other Azzurri are further back: starting with Federica Brignone at 2”84, then Nadia Delago at 3”16, to continue with Nicol Delago at 3”44, Marta Bassino at 3”70 and Karoline Pichler at 4”13. Good performance by Roberta Melesi, who placed 25th at 2”56 behind the first, despite wearing bib number 52. Also discrete was the time of Elena Dolmen, who, wearing bib number 40, limited the gap to Stuhec to 3”07.
The program includes Saturday’s downhill with an 11 a.m. start, while Sunday, also at the same time, will stage the super-G.
