Roma collapses at the Olimpico: Sassuolo wins 4-3
Roma-Sassuolo 3-4
The Giallorossi are defeated by Sassuolo in the Sunday 6 p.m. match of the 26th day of Serie A at the end of an incredible match full of emotions until the last: it ends 3-4 at the Olimpico.
The guests started off strong right away and within five minutes they packed the double lead: in the 13th minute Laurienté collected a rebound from Rui Patricio and put in; in the 18th minute the same French striker turned a beautiful cross from Berardi into the goal. Roma, however, reacted immediately and in the 26th minute with Zalewski halved the disadvantage. In the final minutes of the first half, however, comes the key episode of the match: Fabbri is called to Var for a kick by Kumbulla against Berardi in the penalty area. The referee decides on a red for the Albanian defender and a penalty for the neroverdi, which the Azzurri striker himself converted.
In the second half, Karsdorp and Dybala come in, who after a few minutes finds the 2-3 goal with a great left-footed shot from the edge that slips into the seventh. The Argentine fantasist’s shock was not enough, however, because a quarter of an hour from the end Sassuolo dropped the poker with Pinamonti, who was set up by Laurienté past Rui Patricio with a nice touch underneath. In the final, as time expired Wijnaldum found his first goal in a Giallorossi shirt but that was not enough to avoid defeat.
Roma thus misses hooking Inter in second place, remaining fifth at 47. Sassuolo rises to 33, tied on points with Monza.
