Ottavio Bianchi tries to explain Napoli’s crisis

Ottavio Bianchi, speaking to the microphones of 'Radio Kiss Kiss' during the broadcast 'Radio Goal', spoke about the performance of Napoli, which has fallen far below expectations since winning the 2022/23 Scudetto: the Neapolitan team finished the first round even in ninth place, twenty points behind the top of the standings.

"Difficult to manage the post-Scudetto – said Bianchi, who knows something about it since a Tricolor won it in Naples in 1986/87 and failed to repeat also due to a crisis of results in the last days of the following season -. è not a discourse that concerns only Naples, in history è happened everywhere, even abroad: è everything is normal".

"There are beginning to be issues related to contracts and the’mood of the players," Bianchi added.

The retreat? Lì è easier to manage, you always have the players available, in our time very often we were the ones asking for it. In a soccer club there has to be respect for roles, I cared a lot about that: the coach has to do his job, as well as the manager and the president. If the president is not happy with the way you work then he canò fire you, it is part of the game of the parties".

Bianchi, now 80, è is very attached to the city of Naples and the blue club: it was in Naples that he spent five seasons of his career as a player (from 1966 to 1971) and was coach first from 1985 to 1989 (he had a Scudetto, an Italian Cup and a Uefa Cup in his trophy cabinet) and then from November 1992 to June 1993. In Naples, among other things, he also wore the national team jersey as a player (Nov. 26, 1966, 3-1 to Romania), one of his only two appearances in the Azzurro.
