“Happy birthday to my favorite human being in the world!!! First birthday since you made me mom that we will not be together…. I am a little sad, but I know we are all where we need to be right now and we will celebrate soon! I love you Nico and no matter how old you are, you will always be my boy, I will always be there for you and I know you know that! I am so proud of the person you have become, you continue to inspire me and you teach me patience and tolerance even toward people who sometimes don’t deserve it…but that’s who you are! You came into our lives as a fighter and continue to live every day as such! Not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for the opportunity to be your mom. The best and hardest job in the world, I wouldn’t change a thing, including the hard times, those are only making us stronger. I love you more!”
