Audi winks at Sebastian Vettel, but there’s also Carlos Sainz
Two very familiar faces of Ferrari’s present and past may soon start again in Germany.
Audi is already at work ahead of its 2026 entry into Formula 1. In fact, the German manufacturer, which will take over Sauber, is reasoning about the figure around whom to revolve the project and also the pair of drivers from which to start again. And these figures, in particular, may be very familiar to Ferrari fans: they are in fact Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz.
According to the Swiss of ‘Blick,’ in fact, Audi has identified Andreas Seidl as its future CEO, and the former McLaren executive has already reportedly named Sebastian Vettel as the first choice among the drivers to be hired in 2026. The four-time world champion, currently inactive, is not his only target, however.
In fact, Seidl worked closely with Carlos Sainz back in the days when both were under contract with McLaren, and the newly appointed Audi executive is intent on proposing that the current Ferrari driver join him again. Not to mention that his father also still races in the world of rallying precisely for the Teutonic manufacturer.
