Inter beats Atalanta 3-2 and snatches pass to next Champions League
At San Siro, Inter beat Atalanta 3-2 by playing well in the beginning of both fractions, much less well in the two second halves, but waiting to play the Champions League final on June 10 in Istanbul against Manchester qualifies mathematically for the next edition of Europe’s most important competition and is also momentarily second ahead of Lazio, while for Dea snatching the pass is now a desperate task.
After 40 seconds Nerazzurri already in the lead: Lukaku for Lautaro who returns the ball to him with magic, Big Rom runs lonely towards Sportiello and dribbles it putting it in the bag. Three minutes later another pearl from Lautaro for Dimarco who shoots from the left, Sportiello blocks, the ball comes again to Dimarco, new shot and new rebound by the goalkeeper, here comes Barella who right-footed the 2-0 under the crossbar.
In the 36th minute Atalanta shortened the gap with Pasalic, who scored from close range after a series of touches on the development of a corner kick. But in the 77th minute Lukaku imbues centrally on the three-quarter line, Brozovic and Lautaro are on their own, the Croatian can shoot but touches sideways to his left to Toro, who scores his 21st goal in this league.
In the 91st minute the last excitement: Muriel kicks a terrifying right-footed shot from outside that hits the crossbar, bounces off Onana’s body and ends up in the goal. Inter is mathematically qualified for the next Champions League, Atalanta is still in the running but with slim hopes.
