The words of Roberto Brunamonti

Former Virtus Bologna coach Roberto Brunamonti spoke to ‘Il Resto del Carlino’ ahead of the playoff final between Virtus Bologna and Olimpia Milano. “Between Virtus and Milan there is no favorite. I see competitions with small spreads and, perhaps, the need to get to game 7. It is the announced final, between two teams that have deserved, and led by Ettore Messina and Sergio Scariolo, two great coaches and performers on the court. They are teams equipped, even to play the EuroLega, and the mental aspect will be crucial. A favorite is not there. Two teams that ended the season with equal points. Both experienced some downturns. Uncertainty will dominate. It will be a great spot for Italian basketball. To launch our sport.”

“He has played a great championship so far. I am happy for him. Maturity, professionalism and dedication make the difference. Did I expect that? I watched him grow, a predestined player. He played with passion and dedication. He had everything to do well. To realize he would go 13 years in the NBA, winning a title, you needed a soothsayer. Even he, perhaps, did not expect to get this high. He deserved what he got,” he added about Marco Belinelli.

“I am happy that he extended his contract. Happy that Zanetti and the club have identified him as the future. He is a product of the youth sector,” he concluded on Alessandro Pajola.
