Lele Molin starts over at Reyer Venezia
Umana Reyer announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with Emanuele “Lele” Molin, who will be an assistant to coach Neven Spahija. Molin is coming off six seasons with Aquila Basket Trento, the last two of which as head coach. He began his coaching career in the youth ranks of Basket Mestre, from 1979 to 1985, and then moved to Benetton Basket where he coached under-17 and under-19 from 1985 to 1989. From 1989 to 1993 he served as assistant coach of Benetton Treviso’s first team with which he won a Scudetto (1992), an Italian Cup (1993) and played a Euroleague Final Four (1993). From 1993 to 1995 he returned to youth coaching, again at Treviso, with which he won the under-18 championship in 1994.
In 1995 he returned as assistant coach at Benetton, where he worked with Mike D’Antoni until 1997, winning the Scudetto in 1997, and with Željko ObradoviÄ from 1997 to 1999, winning a Supercoppa and playing another Euroleague Final Four. In 2000 he won the Italian Cup again with Treviso, with Piero Bucchi as head coach. In the two-year period 2000-2002 he worked as assistant coach of Kinder Virtus Bologna with coach Ettore Messina, winning a Scudetto in 2001, two Coppa Italia, 2001 and 2002, a Euroleague in 2001 and playing another Final Four of the top European competition in 2002. In the three-year period 2002-2005, he returned to Benetton Treviso, again with coach Messina, and won a Supercup (2002), three Coppa Italia (2003-2004-2005), a Scudetto (2003) while playing another Euroleague Final Four (2003).
From 2005 to 2009 he works at CSKA Moscow, again with Messina, and wins four Scudettos, two National Cups, two Euroleague (2006 and 2008) always playing the Final Four of the top European competition. From 2009 to 2011 he works at Real Madrid as assistant coach and ending the 2010/11 season as head coach, still playing the Euroleague Final Four. In 2011/13 he is assistant coach to Andrea Trinchieri at Cantù winning the Supercup in 2012. From 2013 to 2015 he is head coach of Caserta while from 2015 to 2017 he works in Kazan with assistant coach Evgeniy Pashutin. From 2017 to 2021, he is assistant coach in Trento under first Maurizio Buscaglia and then Nicola Brienza. From February 5, 2021, he became head coach of the Trento club, a role he held until the season just ended. From 2017 to 2022, he is assistant coach of the Italian National Team under coach Meo Sacchetti, with whom he plays the World Championships in 2019 and the Olympics in 2021.
