Pecco Bagnaia, a fury with Marc Marquez: what happened at Mugello
A front row not without tension.
Pecco Bagnaia ahead of Marc Marquez at Mugello. These are the first two positions of the super pole that will determine the starting grid for the Sprint Race of the Italian Grand Prix. In Saturday’s qualifying, however, there was no shortage of tense moments, with the two centaurs involved in a disagreement on the track caught on camera.
The incident occurred six minutes from the end of Q2, with Bagnaia still trailing in the standings because he was 11th. However, at the end of his launch lap, when he started to attack the stopwatch, Marquez’s Honda, which had just come out of the pits, appeared in front of his Ducati.
The Catalan at that point remained in the trajectory triggering Bagnaia’s nervousness. Indeed, the cameras caught the 2022 MotoGP world champion as he repeatedly vented his anger with some blatant gestures with his left arm. He then approached Marquez shouting something at him. The Honda bearer’s response was the “No” gesture with his index finger.
However, this episode did not affect the outcome of the session, since as mentioned Bagnaia took the super pole preceding Marc Marquez himself.
