F1, Ferrari: former champion goes down flat with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
Damon Hill tough on Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
It’s a weekend off for Formula 1 (which will return next weekend with the Canadian GP), but above all it’s days of reflection at Ferrari’s home, just back from the disappointing result in Catalonia (Carlos Sainz 5th, Charles Leclerc 11th) and, above all, from a first part of the season marked by only one podium in seven races: Charles Leclerc’s third place in Azerbaijan, preceded by the Monegasque’s second place in the Sprint Race at the Baku circuit.
Extremely disappointing results for both fans of the red car and insiders, who are increasingly harsh in their judgments of the Cavallino. The latest sniping in order of time comes from Damon Hill, speaking to the ‘Sky Sports F1 Podcast’: “What can I say about Ferrari… When one is in the leading positions the other is behind, it’s like they run on one leg every time. Every race weekend a problem pops up for one or the other.”
“All the teams, apart from Red Bull, have headaches anyway,” added the 1996 world champion. I think there will still be some surprises starting in Montreal, whose circuit is different from all the others.”
