The words of Gerhard Berger

Gerhard Berger is well aware that Formula 1 has changed since his time: “We drove in America, but we failed to create passion there. There was a hard core of fans, with an attendance of 30,000. In Miami, on the other hand, there were 300,000, and in Austin as many as 400,000 are expected″.

“Now with Liberty Media at the helm we have finally managed to bring America closer to Formula 1 and I am happy for the Circus.”

There is one catch, however, according to the former Ferrarista, speaking on Servus TV: “Formula 1 basically has a European culture that should not be distorted. I personally don’t like this pronounced entertainment component from the Americans, including ‘Drive to Survive,’ which sometimes dilutes it a bit.”
