Happy Casa Brindisi has revolutionized for the 2023/24 sports season and introduced its new head coach, Coach Fabio Corbani, and sports director, Leo De Rycke, at the PalaPentassuglia press room.
Introducing the presentation were the words of General Manager Tullio Marino: “After several years, at the twelfth consecutive season in Serie A, we present some novelties with a new coach-sports director couple to start again together for a new important adventure. I want to thank those who have worked with us over the years, with Vitucci and Giofrè we have written important pages creating a beautiful history. What has happened in the last fortnight between certificates of esteem from the basketball world, requests and proposals coming from all over Europe is a concrete demonstration of this. We are convinced that with Corbani and De Rycke an important cycle can open.”
Here are the first words of coach Fabio Corbani, already assistant coach during the last sports season: “I am excited but I feel at ease, thanks to the club and the city that have welcomed me very well since the first day of my arrival last year. As I told Tullio at the time of the phone call ‘this is my job’ and I am honored and happy to be part of the project. I thank the club, the Marino family, Simone and Frank for giving me the opportunity to coach on the field and show my qualities. I definitely feel a sense of responsibility but with ambition we want to continue a path traced over these years that is the result of hard work, enthusiasm and passion.”
Having arrived in the city a few days ago, the newly appointed Belgian sporting director Leo De Rycke confirms his first good impressions: “I am proud to have had this opportunity to be able to work in an important team in Italy and Europe. On the surface I may appear cold and aloof, but believe me that during the games you will get to discover my more passionate side. I have spoken with the coach in these hours and we are in agreement on everything, we had already crossed paths in Europe when with Antwerp we played against Biella. We need time but we will bring good players here. I don’t talk much, I like to let the field do the talking. I’m here to do a good job.”
