F1, Fernando Alonso is lapidary: “We practically did not shoot.”
F1, Fernando Alonso bluntly: “We couldn’t try all the upgrades we brought here”
After problems in FP1 and the fourth fastest time in FP2, Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso bluntly commented on Friday’s free practice session at the Montreal GP. “I wouldn’t say we were able to try all the updates we brought here. It’s a shame, this situation, it was certainly not the best for the teams and especially for the fans. We didn’t have time to test all the innovations, because FP1 we practically didn’t do and in FP2 we only managed to complete 38 laps. As for qualifying, it could be in mixed conditions,” said the Spanish rider.
Teammate Lance Stroll also spoke on Friday’s free practice: “Practice was quite confusing, but there was the same situation for all the teams and we did what we could in FP2. When you use new updates, the practice sessions are crucial to understand how they affect the car. Overall, I am satisfied with the car, but we will take some time to carefully analyze the data and get ready for qualifying.”
