Marco Bezzecchi doesn’t give up: “Bagnaia stronger, me not inferior to others”
One of the ranking leader’s main challengers is not giving up.
Marco Bezzecchi is no longer second in the overall MotoGP standings after finishing fourth at the Sachsenring. If now Pecco Bagnaia’s most immediate pursuer is Jorge Martin, winner of the German Grand Prix, the Mooney VR46 team rider, however, does not intend to pull the oars.
“Bagnaia is a bit stronger than everyone in general,” Bezzecchi said about the balance in Ducati. “Then it seems to me that Martin and Zarco have found their own base that allows both of them to go very strong. It doesn’t depend on the bike or the team, they are simply better off than me. I was able to fight with them, but I don’t think my bike is inferior from a technical point of view.”
“Compared to yesterday, I was strong today. So I am quite happy,” Bezzecchi said at the end of the day. “I lost some time at the beginning also because of the battle with Aleix Espargarò. Then in turn 12 Alex Marquez came at me, and I was in danger of falling. At that point, however, I was able to recover well.”
“The time I lost at the beginning did not allow me to recover on Zarco enough to take the podium. After such a tiring weekend for us, though, bringing home a fourth place makes us happy. The yellow flag in qualifying also affected me all weekend, but now I say it’s okay,” Bezzecchi concluded.
