Filippo Ganna doesn’t forget the worst blow
Filippo Ganna does not forget
Filippo Ganna celebrates but does not forget. “This season has been full of ups and downs and the worst blow was the one at the Giro d’Italia, because I had so much desire to do it and finish it well, with a team that proved to be at a high level. Coming home was a bad blow but that’s the way sport is and you have to know how to get back into the game and find your motivation again,” he said after winning the Italian time trial title again.
“For the road race I don’t consider myself among the favorites, because of the elevation gain and because there will be 200 kilometers more than on Thursday,” added the Piedmontese rider. “In Saturday’s race for the INEOS-Grenadiers we will be only three riders and we will be facing off against teams that will also have more than ten. We won’t be able to hold the reins of the race-I expect a fast start, because so many teams will want to send riders in a breakaway so they can stay on the wheel in the peloton. But the Italian road race is always a big question mark.”
“It’s really nice to be in contact with cadets, juniors, under 23s, boys and girls who come up to you, ask for photos and autographs, or maybe advice. It’s nice to help nurture the dream of these kids, and to offer the public the spectacle of all-around cycling that values all categories,” Ganna concluded.
