Tragedy at Mugello, 53-year-old man dies during practice
Salvatore Pisanelli has died
His name was Salvatore Pisanelli, the centaur who died yesterday at Mugello during a free practice session reserved for private amateur motorcyclists.
The 53-year-old Sardinian lost control of his motorcycle, a Kawasaki, on the straight of the Scarperia track, and immediate aid from the track’s medical staff was to no avail.
Pisanelli, who immediately appeared very serious, was transferred by ambulance to the resuscitation department of the track’s medical center where attempts to recover his vitals continued in vain. The injuries sustained in the impact proved to be too serious and, despite the fact that a helicopter was already ready to transport the driver to the Florentine hospital of Careggi, the medical staff of the Mugello racetrack could only note his death.
