Ferrari on track at Fiorano: new features tested by Leclerc and Sainz
Technical and aerodynamic news for Ferrari ahead of the weekend.
Ferrari on track at Fiorano during the day on Tuesday. Carlos Sainz first and Charles Leclerc then took advantage of the 100 km allowed by the FIA to have a filming day on their home circuit, just a stone’s throw from Maranello. During their laps on the Emilian track, they were able to try out some new features that will make their debut at the weekend in Spielberg, where the Austrian Grand Prix will take place.
More in detail, Sainz ran 17 laps during which he tested a new front wing. The new aerodynamic appendage, in particular, featured innovations in the side flap area. More tantalizing is the innovation shown on the track by Leclerc: it is in fact a new bottom. According to what has been reconstructed by ‘Sky Sport’, the innovation concerns in particular the front part and the section where the Venturi channel inlets are located. Now the Cavallino’s solution more closely resembles the one already sent to the track by Red Bull.
The return of Ferrari and in particular of Charles Leclerc to the Red Bull Ring brings with it several meanings. Not only does the Austrian Grand Prix represent a home challenge for the team leading the world standings with Max Verstappen, but it also represents the anniversary of the last race won by the Cavallino’s Monegasque. Now the technical innovations aim to reverse the course of 2023 and get closer to the standards that were interrupted just a year ago.
