Anxious hours for van der Sar

Edwin Van der Sar, former Dutch national team goalkeeper and until a few weeks ago Ajax manager, is hospitalized in intensive care after a brain hemorrhage. The condition of the former athlete, who will turn 53 on Oct. 29, is stable. Briefing on the health condition of the former Ajax, Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United fullback was the Amsterdam club itself, with a note posted on its official website and social media.

“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar suffered a hemorrhage in his brain. He is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit and is in stable condition. An update will follow once there is more certain information. We wish Edwin a speedy recovery.”

According to initial information, Van der Sar was in Croatia, vacationing in Split, and was transported by helicopter to the hospital after being taken ill.
