Jannik Sinner explains the tense moment
Smiling over his success to match his best result at both Wimbledon and Slam tournaments in general, Jannik Sinner entrusted his feelings to the microphones of the Tournament organization.
“I’m very happy, today was a tough day,” said the South Tyrolean at the end of the match he won against Daniel Galan. “It’s not that I felt so good, and nevertheless I fought for every ball. Daniel serves very well, but I did everything to win the most important points. I want to thank, also the audience, who supported me from the beginning to the end.”
Peculiar, speaking of a usually calm player, was the tense moment against the chair judge after the first two games of the second set: “I’m sorry if I showed some anger,” he said, apologizing to the audience, “I’m a pretty calm person but sometimes it happens, there were some calls that were not good for me but I tried to stay there with my head. I enjoy playing tennis, but every so often it happens that I lose my cool.”
Now there is the surprise Safiullin: “It will be a very tough challenge because whoever makes it to the quarters is a dangerous opponent. I played against him in the ATP Cup a couple of years ago, it was a tough match (which Sinner won, ed.). But the match is the day after tomorrow, now it’s time to relax.”
