Volandri headed over the Jannik Sinner – Carlos Alcaraz gap.
Davis Cup captain Filippo Volandri in an interview with Sky Sport took stock of Jannik Sinner’s Wimbledon tournament. The South Tyrolean, taking full advantage of a favorable drawboard managed to make it all the way to the semifinals, where he, however, succumbed against Novak Djokovic.
“Jannik had a very good tournament and to get to a Slam semifinal for the first time is absolutely important in one’s growth.”
“But Alcaraz has taken a definitely more important step forward and is going very fast,” Volandri noted. “Sinner, to try to be at the Spaniard’s level, has to continue to grow physically and especially to gain experience in high-level matches like the one against Djokovic to get used to managing moments.
Alcaraz, who has a tied record with Sinner (3 won and 3 lost), has already reached 2 Slams won in his career thanks to his victory in the final at Wimbledon against Djokovic.
