Ismael Kamagate to Olimpia Milano: “Here to win.”

Olimpia Milano announced the signing of Ismael Kamagate, a 2.11 center, born Jan. 17, 2001, in Paris, France, from Paris Basketball of the French League.

“I am happy to land at a historic club like Olimpia Milano. I can’t wait to get to work to help the team continue to win, as it has in recent seasons, and meet my new fans,” are the transalpine’s first words.

“We wanted Kamagate because he is a young, modern player with specific characteristics such as the ability to play above the iron both on offense and defense. After an excellent season in the Eurocup, we believe he can also help a EuroLeague team like ours,” explained general manager Christos Stavropoulos.

“Born in Paris to a family of Ivorian descent, Ismael Kamagate started playing basketball at the age of 12 in a small club in Paris, then moved to Paris-Levallois and finally to Orleans where he made his professional debut. In 2019, he moved to Paris Basketball where he played the last four seasons, the first two in Pro B. In 2021, he won the second French championship by scoring 8.9 points and capturing 7.1 rebounds on average. In 2021/22 he made his debut in the top transalpine tournament and finished the season with 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds average being named defender of the year.”

“In the last season, going from 27.0 to 22.1 minutes per contest, he averaged 9.9 points and captured 7.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 75.3 percent from the field. For the second consecutive year he played in the All-Star Game. In 2022/23 he also debuted in the Eurocup where in 20 games he scored 9.2 points per game with 8.4 rebounds (fourth overall), 17.2 rating (11th), 1.5 stoppages average (first overall). He was also second in two-point shooting with 76.3 percent (he also had 80.4 percent in free throws).”
