The words of Simone Fontecchio

Simone Fontecchio spoke to Corriere della Sera about his first year in the United States in the NBA with the Utah Jazz: “Tough, especially at the beginning. New culture, different habits. But it’s also nice to offer this opportunity to my daughter, who at not even four years old has already lived in three different countries, understands and speaks three languages.”

“The balance is positive. I feel more aware, I am charged for next year. I knew there would be obstacles, but I was mentally prepared. I understood what the coach wanted from me: in the NBA when you have a specialist role you have to limit yourself to do what the team needs. Which NBA player has impressed me the most? Embiid. A point machine: he scored 60 to us in one game. He deserved the Mvp title.”

Chapter World Cup: “After the quarters of the last European Championship, expectations are high. We are aware that we have weapons, such as the set-up composed of smalls, that can put opponents in difficulty. The first step is to get to the quarters, but we have the desire to take something important. Then in these competitions you have to be fit at the right time and you need some luck. One more dream to achieve? To win with the national team. A goal more than a dream. Already to participate in the Olympics again would be incredible, also because then I could beat my father who has only competed in one. And I hope to have a long career in the NBA.”
