F1 Gp Hungary: Russell in front. Accidents for Sainz and Perez
Rain was the main protagonist of the first free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix. At the Hungaroring, Mercedes driver George Russell set the fastest time of 1:38.795, but there were few indications offered in practice, precisely because of the bad weather.
The British driver was ahead of McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Landro Norris’ other McLaren. Among the big boys, Fernando Alonso finished fifth and Charles Leclerc seventh.
Back Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, who lapped very little, while Sergio Perez confirmed his bad moment by going to the wall after a few laps with his Red Bull. Severe damage to his car and aborted session for him.
Trouble also for Ferrarista Carlos Sainz, who spun in the straight at the end of the session. For him no obvious damage. The drivers are hoping for a second session with less rain and more guidance.
