From the columns of Corriere dello Sport Marco Spissu commented on the forfeit of Nico Mannion who, as announced on Monday, will not take part in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup.
“Upon learning the news I was open-mouthed and sorry, because Nico is a talent and has always done well in the Azzurri. It was a decision shared with the coach. I believe that, although young, Mannion needs to gather his energy. Let’s remember that in 2021 he was the victim of a serious problem that debilitated him,” said the Reyer Venezia player.
“It will increase the responsibilities for Pajola and myself. And then there is Spagnolo, who is coming off a great season. We will be ready,” concluded the Sardinian.
