Mateo Retegui to Genoa: Roberto Mancini approves
National team coach Roberto Mancini gave an interview to Secolo XIX in which he also talked about Mateo Retegui, who is about to become a new Genoa player.
“I knew he had some open talks with teams in Italy and I am happy that he agreed with Genoa,” he stressed. “In the Italian league he will be able to improve. He is a serious guy, he is committed and has a desire to grow. Here he can improve on the level of experience and tactically. He is full of will and, by the way, being in Italy and not having to travel thousands of kilometers for every call-up is certainly positive.”
The Azzurri striker landed in Italy on Monday at Milan Linate airport, where he gave his first words to the microphones of TuttoMercatoWeb: “I am very happy to be here, for me it is an honor and I am happy, it is a dream. If I have spoken with Mancini? Tomorrow we talk, it was a very long journey, tomorrow we talk and sign. Do I feel ready? Yes.”
Medical examinations and the signing of the contract are expected in the next few hours for the Italy center forward, who can then finally be available to coach Gilardino.
