Tamara Lunger stars in San Martino di Castrozza

The 37th edition of the DolomitIncontri Cultural Review, opened by Oscar Farinetti last July 22, continues its journey with outstanding appointments that will feature philosophers Maura Gancitano and Andrea Colamedici, writer Matteo B. Bianchi and the great mountaineer Tamara Lunger, who will ideally cut the ribbon of the new special section dedicated to mountain women, on the stage of the San Martino di Castrozza congress hall.

On Aug. 1, the South Tyrolean mountaineer will present a book she holds dear, Il richiamo del K2 (Rizzoli), an account of the very hard lesson offered to her by the mountain she loved most. Through the pages of this open-heartedly written volume, Tamara Lunger takes us with her on the most difficult ascent, the one inside her soul: during the most arduous high-altitude expedition of her life, for the first time Tamara comes face to face with herself, becoming fully aware and conscious of the fact that the power of Nature is immeasurably greater than that of the tiny human species. Tamara Lunger (Bolzano 1986), a world-renowned mountaineer, in 2014 became the second Italian woman to reach the summit of K2. Then, with Simone Moro, she participated in several expeditions, most notably the winter 2016 on Nanga Parbat, and conquered several peaks. For Rizzoli she also published Io, gli ottomila e la felicità (2017).

All appointments of the DolomitIncontri Cultural Review will take place in San Martino di Castrozza at the conference room of the Sass Maor Palace at 6 p.m., except for the August 15 appointment, scheduled at 9:15 p.m. Free admission subject to availability.
