The words of Gennaro Gattuso

Gennaro Gattuso is back to talk about his farewell to Valencia: “The club knew that in January we should have bought 2-3 players, instead no one arrived. When I saw that on January 30 what we had agreed was not happening, I made the decision to leave.”

“I knew from day one that it would be a difficult job at Valencia, but it was an honor for me to work for a great club like this. I have good memories of my experience. At Valencia you have to give importance to everything, you cannot do things by halves. You have to respect the history of this club. It may be that at this time it is not possible to spend a lot of money, but the fans have to be understood. Valencia fans are like me, we live soccer in 360 degrees. I have suffered a lot in this final season, I have a strong relationship with many players who have given me everything. I think of Gayà, who did not want to renew his contract and in the end signed for me.”

“Baraja? It was not easy for him, but he is a good coach for Valencia. He knows how it works, he knows the Mestalla and the fans. Valencia is his home. Lim has to make a decision. Valencia is a historic club and deserves more. I did not feel cheated, but when we started the season Soler and Guedes left in the last days of the market….”
