Masters 1000 Toronto, Alex De Minaur praises Jannik Sinner

Here are the statements of Australian Alex De Minaur, reported by Ubittennis, on the eve of his first career final in a Masters 1000: in Toronto he will in fact face Jannik Sinner, who instead is on his third after losing two in Miami.

“It’s great to see that the many hours of training on the court and the training off the court as well are yielding great results. It is a great boost that gives me confidence. However, the work is not over yet and tomorrow I have the finals ahead of me.”

“In the past, I have struggled with players of great physicality, but I also happened to play against players of similar size to mine and engage in a battle of three hours or more. Let’s say the thing I’m most proud of is the versatility I’ve been able to build. The ability to have more than one plan to translate to the court.”

“Today the weather conditions were bad so I think the key to success was to have as positive an attitude as possible to avoid the risk of getting frustrated with the environmental conditions. Today it was really difficult to play good tennis, for both of us.”

“Sinner? He is one of the best hitters around. I’m going to the court to play my game, mentally ready to compete until the end.”
