The words of Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner in the long interview granted to Corriere della Sera also answered a question about Carlos Alcaraz: “I don’t send him any message, I continue on my way.”

“If I look too much at others, I don’t focus on myself. Instead, I have to be good at leaving out any extra thoughts. In Toronto I won because I stayed calm: the mistake of Roland Garros I don’t make anymore, I learned quickly. You can deal with pressure without letting it overwhelm you: it’s proven to make a difference.”

Jannik Sinner won the first Masters 1000 of his career in Toronto at the not-yet 22 years old, confirming the opinion of many insiders about his bright future.

His rival and friend Carlos Alcaraz wanted to pay tribute to the San Candido tennis player with a message posted on social media, “You deserve it Jannik! I’m so happy for you,” wrote the Murcia tennis player, who was defeated in the tournament quarterfinals by Tommy Paul, then beaten in the semifinals by Azzurro.

Alcaraz in the past has always expressed all his esteem for Sinner, who has beaten him several times: “Right now I think I have a rival who follows these characteristics and I’m talking about Jannik Sinner. I am not afraid to say it, he and I have already had great battles on all surfaces and in various tournaments, and I believe that we will fight together for major titles in the future as well.”

The South Tyrolean tennis player is the only player in the world who can boast the record of having defeated Murciano on all three surfaces (cement, clay and grass).
