Leonardo Bonucci case: Juventus’ response to AIC
Here comes the response to Assocalciatori.
Juventus has taken an official stance on the Leonardo Bonucci case, publishing a note on its website in which it responds to the Italian Footballers’ Association, which had called for the reinstatement of the now former Old Lady captain in the squad.
“Juventus Football Club,” reads the statement issued Wednesday by the Bianconeri club, “strongly reaffirms the correctness of its actions towards all registered players to whom all the rights provided by the Collective Category Agreement are recognized and fully guaranteed. Juventus is also ready, should this become necessary, to defend the full legitimacy of its behavior in the competent venues.”
“In addition, Juventus Football Club hopes that the issue of defining a correct balance between players’ rights and the needs of the Clubs can be definitively addressed and resolved in the framework of the negotiation of the new Collective Agreement between AIC and Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A that will take place in view of the 2024/25 sports season,” the note concludes.
“The situation Leonardo Bonucci is experiencing is paradoxical: he is objectively off the roster, he is subjected to illegitimate conduct forbidden by the collective agreement, his dignity is being trampled on. Juventus must reinstate him immediately, he is suffering serious professional damage,” had been the words of Umberto Calcagno, president of the AIC.
“This affair,” Calcagno had added, “is precluding important opportunities, including the Azzurri jersey, for the national team captain. Bonucci is the tip of the iceberg of numerous situations. Then there are those who, like him, have broad shoulders and go forward with their chests out, and those who suffer instead.”
