Inter attempts shot from Bayern for defense
After the formalities of Carlos Augusto and Marko Arnautovic, Inter is looking for a defender to complete the roster at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal. In particular, the Nerazzurri management is on the hunt for a right-handed ‘brace’ to fill the void left by Milan Skriniar, as Stefan De Vrij does not guarantee reliability in that role and the only one giving guarantees in that position is Matteo Darmian alone.
According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, Inter have reportedly set their sights on Benjamin Pavard, a right-back owned by Bayern Munich. Long followed by the Nerazzurri, the French defender represents the ideal profile to reinforce coach Inzaghi’s defense. Thanks to his ductility, Pavard in fact can play both as a defender in a three or four-man defense and as an outside midfielder.
However, the negotiation to get to the vice world champion is not simple: the Nerazzurri would opt for a loan formula with right or obligation of redemption but Pavard would first have to renew with the Bavarian club, as he is due to expire in 2024.
In addition, there would have to overcome competition from Manchester United, which is strongly interested in Pavard, although the Nerazzurri can rely on open channel with the German club for Yann Sommer.
