Varese basketball, Bialaszewski introduces himself and thanks Messina
Varese basketball: the words of new coach Tom Bialaszewski
New Varese Basketball coach Tom Bialaszewski spoke at the presentation press conference, “I am very happy to be here and for the opportunity I have been given. Coming back to Italy was a goal I had together with my family and I can’t wait to get involved. From a technical point of view we will trace the style of play of last year, not only because it is a clear indication of the management, but also and above all because it respects a philosophy that is absolutely part of my background and that I have always followed in all stages of my career.”
“I am really happy with the roster set up by the club, which has sought out the best players whose characteristics fit well with the way we play,” continued the new coach of the red-and-whites. “I haven’t seen them at work yet, so I don’t feel like judging them in detail. The only one I have dealt with was Moretti in Milan, but that player is not the same as when he arrived at Olimpia, both in terms of the maturation of the player himself and the role.”
He then thanked Ettore Messina: “My relationship with Messina and Luis Scola? To explain what binds me to Ettore Messina, a press conference would not be enough: thanks to him, in fact, I understood the importance of details, but also the fundamental differences between Europe and America. Luis, on the other hand, I have known him since I coached him in Milan and we have kept in touch ever since. He is a great person, open to dialogue; we share a good part of the sports philosophy that comes not only from the work done in Italy but also from what we did in the NBA. There could not have been a better place than Varese to start a head coaching career.
“Goals? Obviously to win every game, but that’s not very realistic. We definitely want to grow day by day so that we are in a position to win them all. I have already talked to all the players explaining to them that between us there should not be a coach-player relationship but a partnership, giving our best for the city and the fans. Cauley-Stein? I did not know him personally, but I had a chance to talk to him and he seemed quite motivated; I am looking forward to coaching him because I think a player with his characteristics is hard to find in Italy and Europe,” Bialaszewski concluded.
