Sprint race Austria, Pecco Bagnaia already looking ahead to Sunday

Here are statements from the top three finishers of the MotoGP class Austrian Grand Prix sprint race, quoted by formulapassion.it.

Francesco Bagnaia: “Today was a tough race because of the heat, but we managed to take the lead on the first lap and then I tried to brake as hard as I could so as not to leave the others the opportunity to overtake me. At that point I simply tried to push. In the last laps the rear tire was completely gone, but today’s strategy was to push until the end. I am very happy with the result, but tomorrow will be another story, but in the meantime we are very happy.”

Brad Binder: “I did my best to catch Pecco, however when I found grip they were still going too hard for us coming out of the corners. I really struggled to keep up with their pace, however, we did a fantastic job. I thank the mechanics for their fantastic work on my bike, we took a huge step forward from Friday. Let’s keep fighting and try again tomorrow.”

Jorge Martin: “It was a really exciting race because a lot of things happened during the race. At the first corner I saw a lot of riders crashing, and I was very nervous because I didn’t know who had it worse. But I started to push and when I passed Marini I was already in front, I felt he touched me and fell. I thought they were going to give me a long lap penalty, so I pushed until the last corner to get a lead of at least 3 seconds. I was on the limit, but I am happy to finish on the podium after the bad morning. I think tomorrow will be more difficult, but I hope to have my pace.”
