Athletics: Noah Lyles new 100-meter world champion
Noah Lyles is the new fastest man on Earth: the U.S. sprinter won the gold medal in the 100-meter final at the World Championships in Budapest.
Lyles clocked a time of 9″83, ahead of Botswana sprinter Letsile Tebogo, silver in 9″88, and Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, third a few thousandths.
Fourth by four thousandths was Jamaican Oblique Seville. Italian Marcell Jacobs, defending Olympic champion, was eliminated in the semifinals with a time of 10″05.
“I could have stayed home but I put my face on it, I’m not afraid of being defeated and I know this is not my value. Now big commitment with the relay.”
