Austrian MotoGP GP, dominance of Pecco Bagnaia
In the Austrian MotoGP class Grand Prix yet another demonstration of superiority by Francesco Bagnaia, the Ducati world champion and world leader at the Red Bull Ring sows all rivals by staying in the lead from the start. Second is KTM’s South African Brad Binder, third and fourth the two from Valentino Rossi’s Ducati team, Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini.
As in the sprint race, it is Bagnaia and Binder who start better than everyone and as in the sprint race, the South African tries it right away but the Turin-based rider resists and slowly begins to take the lead and comes in over five seconds ahead. Even more detached is the VR46 Mooney Racing Team duo. For Bagnaia it is the 26th victory in the MotoGP, the 16th in MotoGP not counting sprints, the fifth of the season always without sprints.
Fifth place for another Ducati rider, Gresini Racing’s Alex Marquez, while Honda’s older brother Marc finishes a Sunday Grand Prix for the first time this year, in 12th place. Sixth was the first of the Aprilias, that of Maverick Vinales, ninth that of Aleix Espargaro, seventh the Spaniard of Ducati Pramac Jorge Martin, and eighth the Frenchman of Yamaha Fabio Quartararo.
In the world ranking, when we are exactly halfway through the 20 races to go, Bagnaia has a 62-point lead over Martin and 68 over Bezzecchi. The next appointment is in two weeks, for the Catalan Grand Prix at the Montmeló circuit.
