World Cup, Petrucci warns Pozzecco: “It must not happen again.”
Martedì August 29 the delicate challenge with the Philippines
The loss to the Dominican Republic has complicated Italy's path to the World Cup. In particular, FIP President Petrucci did not like the manners and, in particular, the polemical attitude Pozzecco had (ejected).
"I told the coach and the whole staff that episodes like yesterday I do not want to see them anymore. You don't lose because of referees, è a completely wrong mentality. The Dominican Republic won deservedly; one must always accept the result of the field. Referee errors are there and always have been, but they did not determine the final result", his words reported by La Stampa.
Petrucci himself expects everyone to respond on the field and, above all, to behave accordingly. The Azzurri jersey carries some weight, as the FIP president himself points out: "We have an image to defend: it is not the fault of FIBA, which has nothing to do with it. These things happened once and must not happen again: è it was a spectacle, seen by everyone, that did not please me". Italy is now awaiting the delicate challenge with the hosts Philippines (match scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. Italian time).
