L'Aprilia dominated Friday’s free practice session at Montmelò, where the Catalan Grand Prix will be run on Sunday. The Noale-based manufacturer in the second session, which is decisive in determining the 10 riders who go directly into the second phase of official qualifying on Saturday, got the first and second times with Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales.

Next up were the Ducatis: world champion Pecco Bagnaia è third, ahead of Johann Zarco’s Ducati Pramac, Brad Binder’s KTM and Alex Marquez’s Team Gresini Ducati.

Then three Italians: Marco Bezzecchi (VR46) è seventh, Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini) eighth, Enea Bastianini (Ducati) ninth. Jorge Martin, tenth, also made it into Q2. 

In the fight for Q1 will be among others Jack Miller, Luca Marini, Fabio Quartararo, Marc Marquez.
