Michele Pirro: barbs for both Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini
Ducati test driver forced to work overtime
The week of the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini, scheduled from’8 to 10 September at Misano World Circuit, is coming into full swing.
The doors of the circuit will open on Thursday, with the Angeluss Parade that will land at MWC at lunchtime, the traditional solidarity pit walk aimed at local voluntary associations in the late afternoon and then Friday to the general public, with the free practice program, but in San Marino and on the Riviera the events that surround the Grand Prix have already begun.
After the’inauguration in Rimini of the exhibition “I cinquant’anni d’oro del motociclismo italiano” promoted by the Nuovo Moto Club Renzo Pasolini, open every day until Sunday, on Wednesday it will be the turn of the official MotoGP pre-event, scheduled in the evocative Cava dei Balestrieri in San Marino, just a few steps from the’arrival of the Cable Car.
It is called MotoGP™Arrows Contest and promises great entertainment and fun for fans and the public (free admission). Accustomed to competing on speed on the track, 10 MotoGP riders will have to measure themselves on accuracy in an archery contest.
There will not be, compared to what was announced by Dorna two days ago, the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini, as everyone knows protagonists of two ruinous falls in the Grand Prix of Catalonia yesterday. Representing Team Lenovo Ducati MotoGP in their place will be Michele Pirro, who we will also see on the track over the weekend in place of the injured Bastianini.
In addition to Michele Pirro, to try their hand with bow and arrows will be Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia Racing), Riccardo Rossi, Kaito Toba, Kevin Zannoni and Kevin Manfredi (SIC58 Squadracorse), Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Racing) and Mattia Casadei (HP Pons Los40).
Each rider will have to shoot 6 arrows in turn, aiming the six targets that reproduce the outline of the Misano World Circuit. Each target will haveà a different range of points depending on size and location. The driver who achievesà the highest score will beà the winner of the competition.
At the end all the protagonists will indulge in an autograph session with fans.
The’event, made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Long Arches of San Marino, è scheduled at 6 p.m. at the Crossbow Quarry.
